MJ gets love in Munchen

Upon arrival in Munich last week my dear friend picked me up from the airport and immediately took me to see the new Michael Jackson memorial in the center of the city. I was traveling with a good friend who shares my history of growing up loving Michael Jackson so naturally it was obvious that we would be moved by the statue. I had a Michael Jackson themed 8th birthday party and spent 10 months listening to Bad on my walkman before falling asleep around the time the album was out. The friend I was with had seen him live twice as a youth and recently came with me to the This Is It premier in London. We are fans, however, seeing this memorial made me seriously re-think my level of fandom. I am 100% dedicated to Michael as a musician and very little else. This is not the case for a small group of MJ fans in Munich who have taken over a historical figure’s monument in order to pay tribute to the King of Pop. This discovery of such a random dedication made us laugh unfortunately. At the same time, I would love to see more of these. Munich can’t be the only place where this is happening. London, New York… lets get on this!
