XOYO, LONDONDoes It Offend You, Yeah? play to a packed house and tear the roof off!

Having listened to their album just once on the tube I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, but what I found was very, very good. Put simply, DIOYY restored my faith in the raw power of live music. Hasn’t everyone been to a gig where the energy doesn’t bother building, but just explodes from the very first blast from the overclocked speakers? And when the frontman calls for the crowd to be “hanging from the ceiling for this next one!” you find yourself wishing that you could do exactly that?! This was DIOYY on a Monday night. They simply rocked.

DIOYY, if you haven’t heard of them yet, are a five piece from Reading (kind of like London, but… not) who play a tremendous mix of electo-punk-indie-rock. Very shouty, very jump-aroundy, and bags and bags of fun. A definite go-see if they’re in your neighbourhood.

Their new album, Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You, is in the can and they’re launching and touring it later this year (details and dates on their website and facebook). While you wait for all that goodness, check out the first track released from the new album, We Are the Dead. Wait until the two minute mark to hear the true DIOYY sound kick in…

The comments on soundcloud are hilarious, accusing DIOYY of creating a sellout “Coldplay” track with We Are the Dead. If this is their Coldplay track, then heaven help us all if they decide to go all Motörhead on us…

You can also grab their first album, You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into from one of these stores:
